Reading Complete: Level C Overview

The daily lessons incorporate the use of flashcards, games, activities, and independent written practice. Each lesson reviews the previous skills and introduces a new skill. This program is designed to be self-paced, and the child should master the lesson’s skills before moving on to the next lesson.

The child will continue to learn to read long vowel words, words with consonant blends, words with double vowels, words with prefixes and suffixes, contractions, compounds, and sight words within context. He will also learn to alphabetize words, identify homophones, divide words into syllables, make singular words plural, and identify synonyms and antonyms.

  1. Read short and long vowel words.
  2. Read words with consonant blends, double vowels, prefixes, and suffixes.
  3. Apply spelling and phonics concepts through written practice.
  4. Write sentences using proper spacing between letters.
  5. Recognize sight words within context.
  6. Identify and use words that rhyme, start, or end with the same sound.
  7. Use word recognition skills and strategies to read and comprehend text.
  8. Demonstrate evidence of literal and inferential comprehension.
  9. Understand literature written in a variety of genres.
  10. Develop listening comprehension and the ability to retell a story.
  11. Read orally with fluency and inflection.
  12. Demonstrate the ability to express ideas.
