After memorizing a poem, the student evaluates his oral presentation using a rubric. The student learns about famous poets and interprets a poem to determine the theme or life lesson. The student is taught to collect, display, and interpret information using charts and graphs. The student learns about epilepsy and the poet who was affected by this disease. Illustrations are drawn to correspond with a given poem, and the student creates a fictional character following an artist’s style.
